Paulo Guedes is Brazil's Minister of Economy. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago. He has previously served as professor at PUC-RJ, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA). In addition, he is founder of Banco Pactual (BTG-Pactual), Abril Educação, Faculdades Ibmec and Instituto Millenium. Guedes has also been a columnist for the Folha de S. Paulo and O Globo newspapers, as well as Exame and Época magazines.
